Laser Hair Removal
Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, the patient who is tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair may find relief with laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal instead. Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light that are absorbed by dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface. They are converted to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years. Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal — the follicle must be “active” at the time of treatment, and not all follicles are active at the same time. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band.
We perform these in our Spa upstairs, SPA Black. We have both an IPL and a Cynosure Apogee Elite with a Zimmer Chiller to decrease the pain of hair removal. The Cynosure Apogee Elite can be used on dark skin and Spider Veins.
Laser Vein Removal
New technology allows us to treat spider veins without surgery or an extended hospital stay and long recovery. Laser ablation takes only 45 minutes in two sessions. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia. The laser aims carefully controlled pulses of narrow-wavelength light at the damaged veins. The veins absorb the light and heat up, then collapse and close. They are then gradually re-absorbed by the body. Normal physical activities can be resumed immediately after treatment.
